THE SALES PLAYBOOK: March Edition
A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER, KRISTY DAVIES-SUMPTER
Quick question:
How happy are you with your sales progress so far this year?
I get it. The diary gets full, client work needs doing, and you are pulled from pillar to post.
But if that is leading to very little entering your pipeline, that is a serious issue, because without leads and sales, a business cannot grow and it certainly cannot feel secure.
If you are not:
• Sending messages to prospects
• Following up with leads
• Picking up the phone to get feedback on a proposal you have sent
… then you are leaving sales to chance.
And chance is not a strategy.
When sales starts to feel like one thing too many on top of everything else you already have going on, the best thing you can do is simplify it and put a clear system in place.
That is exactly what I am focusing on in this month’s newsletter.
I want you to make progress now, so you are not disappointed when the year draws to a close. Or worse, find yourself worrying about your business because you're sales are falling flat.
Enjoy the read, and most importantly, choose one thing and act on it.

Prospecting Needs Protecting
One of the biggest mistakes in sales is assuming prospecting will happen when there is time.
It won't. Because when does anyone have any time... unless we make it?
That is why prospecting needs protecting.
Not squeezing in.
Not hoping for a gap.
Actually protecting time for it.
A strong sales mindset means accepting that lead generation is part of the weekly 'to do' list and not something you do once the urgent work is finished.
This month, ask yourself:
• Have I protected time in my diary for prospecting?
• Am I speaking to enough new people each week?
• Do I know where my next opportunities are likely to come from?
Because if prospecting only happens when you feel motivated, it becomes inconsistent (or non-existent) very quickly.
A simple rule to create momentum: block out non-negotiable prospecting time each week, and keep a list of who needs following up with.

Three Steps to Purposeful Conversations
One of the most effective sales habits is following up properly.
Not just sending a quick message and hoping for the best, but moving a conversation forward with purpose.
Try this one task every week, for the next 4 weeks, and let me know how you get on:
Follow up with 3 open opportunities
Step 1: Choose 3 leads, proposals or conversations that have gone quiet.
Step 2: Reach out directly, by phone if you can, and ask a clear question, such as: “Just checking in, have you had chance to review this?” or “Would it help to talk through any thoughts before you decide?”
Step 3: If that lead has gone a little chilly at that point, make sure you reinvigorate them by recapping on their pains, and what you can help them to acheive if they move forward. And importantly, what is the cost if they don't take action?
One follow-up done well can restart momentum far faster than chasing ten cold leads.
