THE SALES PLAYBOOK: October Edition
A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER, KRISTY DAVIES-SUMPTER
How do you want to feel when you open your laptop on your first working day of 2027?
Ready to get going, with opportunities progressing and a clear idea of what needs to happen next?
Or looking at a fairly empty diary and thinking, “Right, I’d better get some sales moving”?
I know which I’d prefer.
But the first version of that story takes some work before January arrives.
The planning you do now, the conversations you start this month, the relationships you develop and the next steps you agree could all contribute to the business you win in the first few months of next year.
It’s easy to focus entirely on finishing this year well. There are targets to hit, proposals to follow up and work to deliver.
But while you’re working towards a strong finish, make room for a strong start.
This month, I want to help you look ahead, understand your numbers and start laying the foundations for your first 90 days of 2027.

Get Comfortable Doing the Work Before You Need the Sale
When you’re busy, sales can feel like something that can wait.
You’ve got clients to look after. Deadlines to meet. Money coming in.
So starting conversations about work you might win next year doesn’t always feel urgent.
Until next year arrives and you need that work.
By then, you’re asking your sales activity to deliver results immediately, even though your prospects may need weeks or months to make a decision.
Think about your best clients. How long passed between your first conversation and them saying yes? That will give you your answer on when you need to start.
There may have been introductions, meetings, proposals, questions and time spent waiting for the right moment.
Your future clients may need that time too.
Getting into the habit of working ahead means accepting that some of this week’s effort will pay off later.
You might reconnect with someone who is planning next year’s budget. Arrange a conversation about a project starting in February. Or agree to revisit a proposal once a prospect has made an internal decision.
Those are useful steps, even when they don’t produce an immediate sale.
Before you put off your next sales action, ask yourself: when will I wish I’d started this conversation?

Give Your First 90 Days of 2027 Some Numbers
You probably have a turnover figure in mind for next year.
But what does that mean for the sales you need to win between January and March?
And how many qualified opportunities will you need to create to win them?
Take two minutes to find out.
I’ve created a FREE 90-Day Sales Target Calculator to help you turn your revenue goal into something more practical.
Enter your target for the first three months of 2027, your average sale value and a few details about your sales activity.
You’ll discover:
-
How many sales you need to reach your target
-
How many qualified opportunities you’ll need, based on your estimated conversion rate
-
Your biggest sales gap, based on your answers
-
Two practical priorities to get you started
Your small action this week: use the calculator, then put time in your diary to act on one of your priorities.

Sales Ready:
The Foundations Your Business Needs to Win More Sales
Friday 13 November
12pm to 1pm | Live Online Webinar
If I asked you where every sales opportunity stood today, could you tell me?
Who’s ready for a decision? Who needs another conversation? What have you agreed to do next?
When those details are scattered across emails, notebooks and your memory, it’s difficult to know how strong your pipeline really is.
Being sales-ready means having the foundations in place to take control.
During this practical session, we’ll look at:
-
What needs to be in place before pushing for more leads
-
Why sales feel harder when your foundations aren’t clear
-
The areas small businesses often overlook when planning for growth
-
What successful, sales-ready businesses have in common
It’s around 45 minutes of training, followed by Q&A, to help you identify what your business needs to strengthen next.
